With news of a new Halo trilogy in the works, details of Sony’s PS Vita coming to light, and a new console announcement from Nintendo, it’s easy to get caught up in the firestorm of announcements coming out of Los Angeles. So much so that the little guys, the under dogs, the dark horses of the game industry sometimes get the cold shoulder in favor of a AAA announcement. That’s why it’s important to recognize a few milestones announced today by Sword & Sworcery EP developers, Superbrothers.
Today the Sword & Sworcery EP blog was updated with a post announcing that since the game’s release two months ago the app has sold over 200,00 copies, priced at $4.99/$2.99. The post further boasts that the game has seen over 3,000 five star reviews on the App Store, as well as an estimated 200,000+ tweets sporting the games’ proprietary hashtag #sworcery. Gee, you know what? The little guy doesn’t seem so little anymore.
Superbrothers ends its message to the fans with a tip of the hat and what appears to be a hint at what’s to come:
To everyone out there who took the time to explore this project and help us spread the word: we are so very glad you dug it & we are immensely grateful for your support. Also: the summer solstice is June 21st… I wonder what will happen?
